My Granddad played me fiddle tunes
on his old front porch every afternoon
He played them slow and played them fast
He played “Amazing Grace” but always last.
Chorus:
He played “Old Joe Clark”
and “Saint Anne’s Reel”
Boil the cabbage
And ” Ragtime Anne”
` He played “Flop Eared Mule “
and “Soldiers Joy”
He played them all
for this listening boy

My Granddad told me stories too
about the things he used to do
he’d put down his bow lean in his chair
and in his mind I knew he’d go back there
Chorus
My Granddad was a working man
worked his life with his own two hands
he made leather and planted beans
taught me things aren’t what they seem
Chorus
He went home in seventy three
and left the fiddle tunes to me
I play them slow, I play them fast
I play “Amazing Grace” and always last.

I play “Old Joe Clark”
and “Saint Anne’s Reel”
Boil the cabbage
And ” Ragtime Anne”
` “Flop Eared Mule “
and “Soldiers Joy”
I play them all
for my little boy
